Joyce Carol Merchant

November 26, 1957 – January 2, 2023

A Celebration of the life of Joyce Carol Merchant, 65, of Coos Bay, will be held on August 5, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at Coos History Museum in the Sprague Room. Cremation rites have been held under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary.

Joyce was born November 26, 1957 at Kelseyville, California, the daughter of Bobby & Bertha (Roper) Davis. She passed away January 2, 2023 at Coos Bay, Oregon. Joyce was raised and educated in Kelseyville, California and later made her home in the Fresno – Visalia area until moving to Coos Bay, Oregon in 1992. She was married to Mike Merchant in 1996. Joyce was involved with Salvation Army for many years and enjoyed working at the thrift store. She then worked as an Educational Assistant at North Bend Middle School and for Coos Bay School District. She enjoyed scrapbooking, spending time with her family and friends, and helping others in need.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Michael “Mike” Merchant, sons John David Hart, daughter, Jennifer & Shawn McLaren, grandsons, Benjamin & Conner McLaren, mother, Bertha Davis, brothers, Tommy & Larry Davis, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
