Gavin James Warren
August 2, 1929 – December 27, 2023
Gavin J. Warren, 94, of Coos Bay, OR, was born on August 2nd, 1929 in Portland, OR. The son of Lloyd and Laura Warren. He passed away on December 27, 2023 in his home, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.
A viewing and Rosary service will be held 7:00PM on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary in Coos Bay, Oregon. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday January 6, 2024 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 357 S. 6th St., Coos Bay. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in North Plains, Oregon
Gavin was the oldest of six children, and his siblings always said he was the smartest and wisest of them all.
Raised in a Family of Faith, Gavin attended Catholic school from elementary through high school. After high school, he attended Mt. Angel Seminary for 3 years, and was drafted in the Army as a MP. Returning From his duty, Gavin completed his college education at University of Portland with a degree in English Literature. Shortly after, Gavin became an IRS officer and married his wife, Betty Ann Krutscheid, for 43 years before she preceded him in death

Gavin is survived by his four children, daughter Sue Warren, son Paul Warren, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Darrell Barker, daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bob Adams, along with his beloved l9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Gavin loved to spend time with his grandchildren hiking, teaching them about history, bonsai's, sharing his love for books, and stamp collecting. He was in many plays at the local theater and was an avid traveler. But most of all, Gavin valued his faith more than anything in the world and he lived it daily by serving the community at Prison Ministry, T. H. E. House, visiting the sick and dying, and became a Financial Investigator for the Courthouse following his retirement from the IRS.
Gavin's compassion and desire to help others was what made him an exceptional human being. He enjoyed the presence of his family and friends, and brought so much joy to everyone he met. We will love and miss him dearly.
