Cremation rites have been held for Mary Jean Leaton, 60, of North Bend, under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary.
Mary was born Dec. 13, 1957 in North Bend, the daughter of Robert J. and Mary Ellen (Miller) Tavernier. She passed away June 30, 2018 in North Bend. She was raised and educated in Coos Bay and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1976. Mary was a loving mother and a hard worker. She had worked as an in-home caregiver, a pharmacy technician, and was currently working at North Bend Medical Center.
She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and friends and she especially enjoyed being a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by daughter, Shelia O’Callaghan of Coos Bay; daughter, Shana Hash of North Bend; son, Thomas Leaton of Coos Bay; daughter, Cassy Leaton of Portland; daughter, Brooke Leaton of Michigan; six grandchildren; mother, Mary Ellen Hinds of North Bend; brother, Danny Tavernier of Portland; brother, Terry Lee Tavernier of Coos Bay; brother, Billy Brannon of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Tavernier; and sisters, Bobbie Jo Tavernier Melnick and Roylanda Brannon.
