Richard Lloyd “Dick” Andrews

Cremation rites have been held for Richard Lloyd “Dick” Andrews, 79, of Coos Bay, under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary.
Richard was born Sept. 1, 1938 in Seattle, Wash., the son of Clyde Neil and Matalee Bella (Lyle) Andrews. He passed away June 11, 2018 at his home in Coos Bay.
He was raised and educated in Burien, Wash., where he graduated from Highland High School. Richard worked for Boeing Aircraft for several years in the Seattle area before moving North Bend to work as an engineer for Weyerhaeuser. He later purchased a fishing boat and fished commercially in Oregon and Alaska. He moved to San Francisco where he helped retrofitting Liberty Ships into fish processing ships. After retiring he moved back to the North Bend/Coos Bay area where he has since resided.
Richard was married to Mari Yamaguchi July 7, 1986 in Alameda, Calif. He enjoyed landscaping and had helped develop and construct Choshi Garden at Mingus Park in Coos Bay. He also built a home up the Alleghany.
He is survived by his wife, Mari Y. Andrews of Coos Bay; daughter, Julie Schipp of Lakehead, Calif.; son, Tony Andrews of San Jose, Calif.; daughter, Sarah Fry of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; brother, Casey Andrews of North Bend; and nine nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Neil and David Andrews; a sister, Susan Andrews; and a niece.
