Traditional or Contemporary Services
Funerals, memorials, and receptions offer a time for family and friends to gather together to share memories and support one another during a very difficult time. We believe each service should be as unique as the person whose life is being honored.
The variety of Cremation and Burial services we offer allows each family to plan their own special farewell. Our chapel is spacious, comfortable and may also be used as a reception or banquet room for funeral or memorial luncheons. The gathering area provides opportunities for planning a remembrance that reflects the life that has been lived.
We also share options for families who prefer a private service to remember their loved one. Each service is as individual as the person whose memory is being honored.
Making arrangements
at the time of need
This can be the most stressful time for a family. There are so many decisions to be made. We are here to share options with you, and complete your families wishes. We will stay with you during the entire process.
A good beginning is deciding what kind of final arrangements you want to have. Burial, entombment or cremation each have specific needs.
Determining what benefits and resources may be available; pre-funded insurance, trusts, social security death benefit, union and veterans benefits, previously purchased cemetery properties, etc.
Also gathering statistical information needed for the death certificate.
We will assist in arranging services whether in our chapel, reception area, a church, at the graveside or at another designated place. We will make the contacts and arrangements so services go smoothly. You can rest assured we are able to take care of most every request.
You’re Never Alone
When selecting Nelson’s Bay Area Mortuary you will have confidence knowing you will be supported through your family’s difficult time. We don’t leave you when the service is over. We’re here to help care for family members, answering questions, and offering a supportive hand.
We offer friendship and caring along with a large selection of bereavement literature for those who may need a little extra support, comfort and understanding in their time of need. We will also give referrals to counseling and support organizations in our community to help those who have had a loss.
